Contains a table of county population and agriculture census data, (likely the 1830 census). Shows incorporated towns by county and Public Land Survey districts by state. Inset maps of Jackson, Grand Gulf, Natchez, Vicksburg, Woodville, Columbus, Yazoo City and Port Gibson, all illustrating street patterns and lot numbers. A second edition of the map contains an inset of Mississippi City and also shows an illustration of the "Jackson State House" and a cotton plant. Contains a short history of Mississippi and a statement by John Bill, Surveyor of Lands in Mississippi and a letter by R.M. Williams noting the correctness of the map. |
