Aerial Photos. Springdale Farm. Dec. 1949. USDA aerial photo looks down on Anderson Carter Blake farm 3 1/2 years after his death. Carter Blake Jr. took over the old system of share-cropping by black tenants, purchased a Case tractor, and operated the 240 acre farm mostly by himself--inaugurating a switch to more modern methods. Carter Blake Jr. produced good yields of cotton and sweet potatoes, and tended a herd of beef cattle. He won a production award from the Miss. Cooperative Extension service for his top ranking cotton crop in his size of farm classification. He also worked as Rt. 1 rural mail carrier at Pocahontas. Later he rented out his farmland and went into the sale of insurance and health products." Aerial photograph.
