"Reception Cottage. Conceived by Mrs. Robert E. M. Goolrick. Designed by Sgt. Herman Litwack. This cottage was designed as a meeting place for the visiting families of soldiers stationed here. Its construction was made possible by funds raised from three benefit concerts given by Mr. Ted Shawn, the celebrated American dancer and his star dancer, Sergeant Barton Mumaw, now in service at Keesler Field. Another concert by the duo-pianists Vronsky and Babin made possible the furnishing of the cottage, and additional money for the purchase of other items of interior decoration was donated by Pfc. Weston McDaniel from the sale of the first edition of his new volume of poetry, 'Miracle of Flame.' An interesting note in the cottage is a plaque designed by Mr. Shawn, which has been installed over the fireplace." Exterior view. Side 1.
