The De la Point Fort at Pascagoula, Miss. was erected in 1718 to protect the lands belonging to Madame, Duchess de Chaumpnt [sic], lady-in-waiting to Princess Henrietta at the Court of Louis XIV at Versailles. It is doubtless the oldest building in the lower Mississippi Valley, being sixteen years older than any building in New Orleans. It is still in good condition." Exterior view. Side 2.
