Affidavit, Wm. [William] L. Arick, Marion County, appearing before Justice of the Peace Alex. [Alexander] Hall, stating that he heard Sheriff Hardin D. Runnels state that he had a warrant for the arrest of Thomas Harman which had been delivered to him by Philip McGee, stating that McGee later told the Sheriff that Harman and Mr. Leigman had settled their differences and that Harman wanted to sell the Sheriff a Negro so that he might pay Leigman a debt owed to him, stating that the Sheriff refused to buy the Negro but that if he had bought the Negro the money would have done Harman no good as the Sheriff had every intention of serving the warrant.
