Letter, Governor Holmes, Mount Vernon, to Major [Thomas] Hinds, stating that he (Holmes) had arrived "here" only to find General [Thomas] Flournoy and his troops gone; stating that he feels that the Mississippi Dragoons could be great help to the regiments on the Tennessee River but he (Holmes) has not the power to order them there; stating that, should Hinds and his Dragoons wish to join the troops on the Tennessee, Colonel Russel will provide everything required for the march.
