Letter, Colonel Geo. [George] H. [Henry] Nixon, Pierce's Stockade, to Governor Holmes, stating that a Surgeon's Mate has been hired to help with the men, stating that there is a "mutinous disposition" in the camp and that it is hard to bring about any discipline, requesting the power to appoint a court martial, requesting commissions for Ensign Jefferis H. Moore as Judge Advocate to the regiment and for Adjutant Bowie as Inspector to the regiment, stating that he (Nixon) has received a copy of George S. Gaines's letter to General Claiborne in which he (Gaines) reports a battle with the Indians "at the Holy Ground".
