Copy of letter, Thomas Pinckney, Fort Hawkins, to Colonel [Gilbert C.] Russell, stating that General Jackson's troop was seriously depleted due to the leaving of many of his men but that his troop has been reinforced and he is now marching toward the confluence of the Alabama River; stating that General Floyd has advanced to the Talipoosa [Tallapoosa] River with instructions to establish a fort; stating that Colonel Milton has been ordered to take command of the body of Regulars sent as a reinforcement to General Floyd; urging Colonel Russell to continue his plans for transporting supplies up the Alabama River, no matter what obstacles stand in his way; ordering Colonel Russell to bring with him a force of between 1000 and 1500 men and ample ammunition for the troops in the area.
