Psalm 37:29

The righteous shall inherit the land,
And dwell in it forever.

This is a promise from God. The born again are destined to inherit the land, forever. Many people get the wrong impression from terminology in 2 Peter 3 that the earth is going to be totally burned up and annihilated. The present heavens and earth are going to be renovated by fire, not annihilated. Think about this, even the sin will not be annihilated, no one will be annihilated, yet everyone and everything goes into the fire. Psalms 102:25,26 explain perfectly how this earth will be changed. It is plainly said in Psalms 104:5 that this earth's foundations should not be removed for ever! (See also Eccl. 1:4; Psalms 93:1; Isa.45:18; Hebrews 12:27)

This lines up with our verse for today, how can the righteous live in a land forever if the land is to be annihilated?

A born again believer can look out on the beauty of the earth and know that one day all this will belong to him due to inheritance.
