I realize how busy everyone is, but to date I have received letters from Iowa's Senator Harkin, and the Governors of Alabama, South Carolina, Wyoming and Kentucky. Letters may be addressed to "The United States Air Force Academy Graduating Class of 2001, Squad 26." Below please find a copy of the first email sent 4-16-01 and again thank you for your time. Kerry K. Lawson Dear Senators/Governors/Congressmen: My son, Cadet 3rd Class, Kameron Lawson, is overseeing the commissioning of the 1st class cadets in squad 26 at the United States Air Force Academy, May 30, 2001. In an effort to make this day special, he is requesting a letter of congratulations from the senators/Governors/Congressmen of each state. As you are aware, Air Force Cadets come from every state/territory in the Nation. Additionally, commissioning as a 2nd Lt. is the culmination of 4 very intense years of training, and a letter from you would be most appreciated by family members and cadets. All letters received will be displayed at the commissioning ceremony. I understand how busy you are, but if you have time, you may send your letter to me at the address below and I will collect and forward them to the Academy. Thanks you for your help and support.
