Psalm 38:5

My wounds are foul and festering
Because of my foolishness.

Proverbs 24:9 says that the thought of foolishness is sin. That being true, it's safe to assume that foolish words and foolish actions are sin as well. We all know sin leads to death. The smell of a festering wound wreaks of death. Death has a foul smell to it.

These wounds on David came as a result of his foolishness. Foolish living will leave you wounded bleeding and alone. Nobody wants to live with a fool full of wounds that are foul and festering.

In our world today, a person can contract the AIDS disease in just one sexual encounter with an infected person. This infection leads to certain death. These people are now contagious with a deadly foul disease. When a new victim is infected they want to holler, foul!

This is a good place in the storyline to remind you that God is going to forgive David and later heal him of this terrible plight! There is life after death! We must learn to die to the sin in the world and in our hearts.

In The Master's Service,

Bo Sullivan
