I think that all citizens of MS will be outraged at this raise in a time of decreased state revenues and cutbacks in other areas of state government, including education. Many other state employees have four year college degrees and already make far less than the engineers that will receive this increase. In fact, Engineers are already among the highest paid employees in state government. The appropriations bill also calls for them to receive this increase on July 1, 2002 while the other state employees must wait until January 1, 2003 for their $600 raise.
