It was submitted by Stephanie Hester (weldit@dixie-net.com) on Sunday, June 23, 2002 at 17:33:18 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Issue: Youth Ball Park Street_Address: 12 Eureka Road City: Nettleton State: MS Zip_Code: 38858 Message: Mr. Governor: I live in Nettleton, a city you recently visited with a grant for $650,000 for Peoplounger, Inc. I understood this grant to be for the renovation of their new building in order to create more jobs for this area. This will be a great project and is greatly appreciated, but I have an issue I would like to address. My daughter, age 9, attends the Nettleton Schools. In the summer, we participate in the Nettleton Girls Summer Softball Program. Bottomline---we have no where to play ball. We borrow the high school girls softball field (just one field). There are about 10 or 12 teams that try to practice, schedule games, & play on this one field. We need help in trying to build a ball complex/playground area for our youth. We have discussed this with the mayor and his council with not much luck. Our kids are the future for Nettleton & Monroe County. The way they grow up will make a difference in our world.
