Governor Musgrove:

I just wanted to chime in with my two cents worth on the Mississippi State Flag
issue.	My husband's and my roots go back over 200 years in Mississippi, and we
are avid history buffs. We have a great deal of respect and reverence for our
ancestors and their part in Mississippi's history. However, the state flag is
NOT the sum total of state history and achievements. This is an issue for
small minded folks, and the media is milking it for all it's worth. Mississippi
has a golden opportunity to respond proactively before the issue is totally out
of hand, like North Carolina. Let's change it to something positive that all
our citizens can rally around and move on. The Battle Flag is part of our
history, not representative of our future!

Sincerely,

Jan Payne
