Message: Dear Governor Musgrove,
In a February 1, 2001 Clarion-Ledger article you talked about President Bush's proposed voucher program. In the article you discussed Tunica, Quitman and Yalobusha County School as having failed Mississippi education standards and being placed unders state control. While I completely agree with the statements you made concerning the drawbacks of the voucher plan, I must correct your statement concerning Yalobusha County Schools.

Yalobusha County has two separate school districts, Coffeeville and Water Valley. Both of these districts have a Level 3 Accreditation rating. To my knowledge, neither of the school have ever been placed under state control. Although your statement was well meaning, it was very upsetting to me to see our county school districts paired with other school districts that have a Level I Accreditation rating and are under state control.
