- Description: March 1968, Forrest County Circuit Court (Hattiesburg, Miss.) trial of Cecil V. Sessum for the January 1966 murder of Vernon Dahmer and the firebombing of his house and store. Sessum's wife, Mary, outside the jail. A March 12, 1968, Hattiesburg American article reported she "had tried unsuccessfully to enter the courtroom carrying a .38 revolver in her purse." Percy Quinn, Cecil's defense attorney, said she carried it "for purposes of self-defense."
