I would like to invite your organization to exhibit at HireDisAbillity.com's DISABILITY CAREER EXPO scheduled for Nov. 5 in New York City at the New Yorker Hotel. The purpose of this Disability Career Expo and Workshop is to answer the call of employers to find candidates with disabilities whose skill sets and experience match employers hiring requirements. At the same time, offering employers and job seekers educational workshops on important issues regarding disability employment. Some companies participating in the event include IBM, Microsoft, Verizon, New York Life Insurance, Reed Business Information Services, Pitney Bowes, Sodexho, Starwood Hotels, Quest Diagnostics, Becton Dickinson and Federal Agencies such as the NSA, EPA, U.S. Customs, and the INS. The day will commence with a CEO breakfast, and Nick Buoniconti, Miami Dolphin's Hall of Famer (in the early 80's, his son, Mark, sustained a cervical spinal cord injury during a college football game which resulted in quadriplegia) will deliver the keynote address. The other 2 speakers will be the President of IKON Office Solutions and the Major Sponsor of the event (TBA). Disabled individuals represent the largest minority group in the United States. There are over 50 million Americans with disabilities, representing all ages, ethnicities, household incomes, gender and purchasing habits. As companies investments show real value into recruitment of other minority markets, the disabled community has been all but missed mostly due to improper assumptions about the employability of the disabled. This diversity market as a group represents over $1 trillion in purchasing power, which is more then African American, and Hispanic combined. The disability career expo offers companies like yours a unique opportunity to brand itself as a true supporter and employer of this huge and untapped market. The "Abilities Comes First" Disability Career Expo is going to provide your company with an opportunity to recruit over 2,500 diversity professionals and attend workshops designed to provide information on important disability topics. Educational workshops will be available for both the recruiters and candidates. Workshop topics will include: 508 Regulations, Legal Responsibilities Required by Employers, Disaster Planning for The Disabled, The Americans with Disability Act, Assistive Technology Advancements, and more. Attached, you will find exhibitor and seminar information. If you or know of any colleagues that could benefit from exhibiting or attending please feel free to pass this information along. Take care and please feel free to contact me with any questions. Steven O.
