From: "peace maker" <wisdomcol@nycny.net> To: RM.GOV_PO.GOV_MAIL Created: 2/8/2002 9:13 AM Subject: Message: I was going through my files and came across a letter that I wrote to the then President Clinton and all state governors. That date was September 11, 2000. It caught my eye because of the date and its significance now, so I decided to write. I had asked all governors and the President to acknowledge a day to send an important message to our youngest children on up. That we as a society value the good. I called it "Everyday Heroes Day of Thanks & Remembrance". I didn't get any responses that year; maybe this year will be different. > >All too often the negative is continually the focus in the media and on tv. It is important that we know what is going on in the world, but it is also important to focus on what it takes to turn society around in the right direction. I applaud anyone who has the courage to stand up for what is right and helps to lead the way towards a better tomorrow. Our children are depending on us and the best example of compassion and tolerance is by example. With all that our society has been through lately, I have to ask, "Why isn't such a day important enough?" Everyday are opportunities to spread goodness, opportunities to make a difference. You just have to really "see". >> >>In fact, IF YOU THINK A DAY LIKE THIS - TO HONOR ALL THE EVERYDAY HEROES OUT THERE - is IMPORTANT, YOU CAN HELP BY PASSING THIS ALONG AND CONTACTING YOUR OWN GOVERNOR'S OFFICE or helping in some way. >> >>You know, some people say why bother writing to the media? What's the chance of them responding? Well, I can live with that chance. I have learned alot about life and it's many "lessons". >>> >>>If you're willing to listen, I could tell you an amazing story of hope and discovery, of pain turned into joy towards all, and so very much more. It is a story that is very real. It has brought many hope and faith and have empowered others to take positive changes in their lives. >>> >>>I know how very busy you are and appreciate if you have taken the time to read this. I know it's a chance in a million that you would respond back to me personally, but I hope you see the importance of my message and give some hope and faith back to society by promoting goodness and all that is right in this world. >>> >>>God bless! >>> >>>B.
