I am a resident of Coldwater Mississippi, and I am in need of your help. I have recently moved here from Hernando Mississippi, where I lived for two years. I have been going through the process of setting up my new home. I am having a problem obtaining telephone service. I have been told by the representatives at BellSouth that I can not get phone service until August 31, 2000. Governor, I assure you that this is not due to any shortcoming on my part. They tell me that there are no dial-tones left in my area. I have explained to the people at BellSouth, that I am a single mother with a 5 year old son. I told them that in the year 2000 a telephone is a necessity, not a luxury. Certainly, if they have to put new cable down, this will take some time, but TWO MONTHS? I asked them, what good did it do for me to have a 911 address, if I don't have a phone to use it in an emergency. They had no answers for me. It isn't as if I can go to a competitor to obtain phone service...they are the only service providers. Sir, if you could assist me in this matter I would deeply appreciate it. I really don't know where else to turn for help. Thank you for your time in this matter, and thank you in advance for any consideration you could give to my dilemma. Sincerely, Debra L. Hauser My address and phone are: 1010 Peavine Rd Coldwater, MS 38618 (662)622-3962 I can be reached at: 1036 Peavine Rd Coldwater, MS 38618 (662)622-5812 E-mail: gratefulin2000@aol.com - Attachment Filename: C:\archives\governor\mail\Governor Musgrove\_attach\Single Mom Unable To Use 911 Service\Mime.822
