Subject: 	Tougaloo Art Colony and Weekly Workshop/Forum

Tougaloo College is currently seeking students to take part in the writing component of the this year's colony.  Michael Harper, University Professor and Professor of English at Brown University, is facilitating the writing workshop.
 
The Tougaloo Art Colony is desgined to facilitate workshops in various areas, including creative writing, music, painting/drawing, sculpting, photography, dance, and other areas.   This year's dates are July 26 - August 2, 2002 and will be held on the campus of Tougaloo College.  Students may register up to the first day of workshops. Jolivette Anderson will be facilitating weekly workshops and Forums to discuss the arts, arts in education, arts and politics and arts and humanites.  These meetings will also be planning sessions for putting together local performances, forums and  a caribbean festival.  This is how the weeks will look.

Tuesday 6 to 9 pm
Place: 1446 Gibralter Drive
Purpose:  Mississippi Migrations 
We will discuss, work on, plan the arts in education work at Lanier High
School.  Artist and community people can/will be trained to do the D.
Ciphers curriculum.  This is serious "mental fun work".  Bring your own
dinner.

Wednesdays 6 to 9 pm
Place:  1446 Gibralter Drive 
(off Highway 80 next to Pizza Hut 9th house on the left hand side)
Purpose:  I will be writing, reading and rehearsing with myself and
others who would like to perform with me at different intervals when I
have gigs.  

Thursdays 6-9 pm (maybe to 8pm)
Place:  Island Flavors (51 Mart Terry Road Site 13 in the alley)
Purpose:  Discuss and Plan a Mississippi Caribbean Music & Arts
Festival.  Come willing to contribute ideas to help build the
infrastructure we need to culturally and economically empower self and
community.
