Now, I'm not so sure. I understand that your teacher pay raise was hindered by the house and senate, but the latest cuts in funding are alarming. We slash and burn the education system and then wonder why Mississippi can't rise above it's problems. Where is the tobacco settlement money? Why aren't we using this for education? By the way, where is this money and what is it being used for? It seems that what occurs in my daughter's school is true in the real world too. When it becomes necessary to cut back funding, the first area to suffer is the arts and music. Heaven forbid that we should trim the budget in any of the sports programs. No, the football and basketball teams are much more important than arts and academia. Now I learn that our state is in negotiations to lure the New Orleans Saints to our state with a new stadium in Hancock county. It seems that football really is more important than education. Who on earth will pay for all the infrastructure required for this? Mississippians will. Who will pay for all these education cuts? Mississippi will. submit: submit --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Attachment Filename: C:\archives\governor\mail\Governor Musgrove\_attach\Comments to the Governor 60\Mime.822
