I would like to bring up a topic that seems to have died in the news but in my opinion should never stop haunting General Shinseki till the day he dies. Taking the Black Beret away from the rangers and given to the general military was a disgrace to all the men who came before this and died for their country. Some people have made the argument that it is just a hat that means nothing. Well let me put it this way. Is the American Flag just a flag? Would America be so willing to toss the history and meaning of the flag to just any ole country and adopt a new flag, I think not! It is not just a hat it is a symbol. It is symbol of everything a Ranger PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE stands for. If they thought it was so important that everyone get a beret why not just give the Tan beret to the general military and leave the Black Beret with the Rangers? This is an issue that should not die for if it does then every Ranger that came before is just as meaningless to Shinseki and all those who voted to do this appalling act. I implore you to please help the Rangers with this battle. Sincerely, Michael Harvey - Attachment Filename: C:\archives\governor\mail\Governor Musgrove\_attach\Army Rangers\Mime.822
