Colonial Dames of America collection PI/COL/1984.0002

The Colonial Dames of America collection consists of one hundred seven hand-colored 4"x5" glass lantern slides donated in 1983 by the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the State of Mississippi to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. The images in the collection depict historical landmarks in Mississippi and interpretations of the day to day lives of Mississippians and early explorers.

Image Arrangement and Numbering

The Colonial Dames of America collection of 107 glass lantern slides was numbered in the order they were received.

Technical Details

Original Scans: The original scans of the Colonial Dames of America collection were made in 2009, according to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Board of Trustees' approved imaging procedures, following ANSI/AIIM recommended practice. The images were scanned as uncompressed, RGB Color TIFF files at 600 pixels per inch.

Conversion: For Web display, the original scans of the Colonial Dames of America collection were saved as JPEG tile sets.

The postcards in the Colonial Dames of America collection are in the public domain and therefore free of copyright or other use restrictions. MDAH asks that each image used in a presentation, display, or publication be accompanied by the following credit statement:
