Robinson (Christiane) Photograph and Video Collection EA2021.002
This collection consists of 335 JPEG photographs and nine MPEG-4 video files created by Christiane Robinson and donated to MDAH December 29, 2021, on four disks. In them, Robinson documented Pride events on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2018 and 2019. The nine videos and 247 of the images were taken at the Second Gulf Coast LGBT+ Pride Day hosted by the Gulf Coast Association of Pride at Point Cadet Plaza in Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi, on June 30, 2018. Eighty-eight of the images document the Third Annual Gulf Coast Equality Fest sponsored by the Gulf Coast Equality Council and held on the Great Lawn at Harrah's Gulf Coast in Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi, on October 19, 2019. The festivals featured music, drag shows, raffles, and vendor and information tents and attracted diverse groups of people, including protesters.

Biographical Information
Christiane Robinson is a freelance translator and self-taught photographer with special interest in documentary photography and photojournalism. She has covered events in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Washington D.C. Robinson's photographic work has appeared in The Guardian, The Advocate, The Wire (the newsletter of Montgomery-Wiregrass Mensa), and numerous other journalistic articles and blog posts. She has made significant donations of photographs and videos that document political and social events related LGBT+ issues to state archives in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi.
Born in Germany, Robinson earned a master's degree in Applied Linguistics. She lived in several countries before immigrating to the United States (Alabama) in 1998. Robinson has been a resident of Panama City Beach, Florida, since August 2020. As of December 2021, she works as a case manager for a non-profit organization in Panama City and is the mother of two daughters, Kiara and Vanessa.
Robinson is a member and certified proctor of American Mensa. She is also a member of Intertel (International Society of the Intellectually Gifted), TOPS (The One Percent Society), SEAFA (Southeast Alabama Freethought Association), MAFA (Montgomery Area Freethought Association), and Northwest Florida Mensa.
