Two sides, of, what is, a great quadrangle, showing will convey the magnitude of the great building. The front half of the building was constructed in 1876 and was at the time a three storied structure, the fourth floor being added subsequently. The remainder of the building was added in 1911." Center: "Chicakasaw College at Pontotoc was founded and built in 1852 with an endowment by Thos. McMackin, proprietor of Pontotoc. It is an institution for female education." Bottom: "Belhaven College, Jackson, Miss. Belhaven College at Jackson, had its foundation in 1893 by Dr. Fitzhugh who came to Jackson from McComb. It has been twice destroyed by fire. It was acquired by the Presbyterian Church in 1911 from which time since all the present buildings have been constructed."
