The E. von Seutter Photograph Collection consists of thirty-five (35) original stereocards and forty-eight (48) photographic prints collected by the Elisaeus von Seutter family of Jackson, Mississippi. The majority were taken by photographers Elisaeus and son Armine. Two photographs are identified as the work of other studios - Clark of Meridian, Mississippi, and Krziwanek of Vienna & Ischl, Austria. The stereocards feature images of downtown Jackson in the aftermath of the Civil War. The portrait photographs include samples from the von Seutters' studio, as well as images of the von Seutter family, home, and garden.

Image Arrangement and Numbering
The collection is arranged by format—stereocards (items 1-35) precede photographic prints (items 36-83).
Technical Details
Original Scans: The original scans of the E. von Seutter Photograph Collection were made January and February 2008, according to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Board of Trustees' approved imaging procedures, following ANSI/AIIM recommended practice. The images were scanned as uncompressed, 24-bit RGB TIFFs at 600 pixels per inch.
Conversion: For Web display, the original scans of the E. von Seutter Photograph Collection were converted to 600 ppi, 24-bit RGB JPEG images in March 2008.

The images in the E. von Seutter Photograph Collection are in the public domain and therefore free of copyright or other use restrictions. MDAH asks that each image used in a presentation, display, or publication be accompanied by the following credit statement:
