In 2001, Hallmark did a movie based on the book A Painted House. On April 14, 2002, Margaret and Noble attended a reception prior to viewing the world premiere of A Painted House. The premiere was shown at the Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Jonesboro is a few miles west of Black Oak. John's mother, father, his sister Beth, his brother Ken and his Aunt Doris. Doris Strickland was Noble's 5th. grade teacher. Margaret, Beth, and John were reunited for the first time in over 40 years. No others were present that was a part of the Grishams life at Black Oak except Margaret and Noble. During the 1950s and 1960s when Margaret and Noble lived at Black Oak, Arkansas on his father's farm, Johnny (John) and Wanda Grisham and their family lived on the adjoining farm. At one time Johnny was Noble's scout master and later gave him a summertime job at his square mill. In the early 1960s Beth Grisham, Johnny and Wanda's daughter, was one of Margaret's piano students. Later the Grishams left the farm and moved to Mississippi where their son, John Grisham, would become a noted writer. In 2001, John wrote a novel entitled A Painted House. The novel was classified as fiction. However, it was taken from John's mother and mother's remembrance of their time on the farm at Black Oak."
