Here were entertained many of the persons of note who came to Natchez in the early days of Mississippi's formative period. Adventurers, soldiers, statesmen, planters and the gay young blades from the surrounding countryside came to make merry, to carouse or to plot. Aaron Burr and Blennerhassett met here secretly in 1807. It is shown here, restored as it appeared to Don Jose Vidal, Spanish Governor, at the time it was built and to such personage as Andrew Jackson, LaFayette, Audubon, Zachary Taylor, Sam Houston, Louis Phillipe and Capt. Leathers." Bottom: "The Huff Home, was built in 1890 as a stage coach stop and way side tavern in Wilkinson County. The upper floor is one great room that was used for dancing. Many personages have stopped during a journey at this old inn and enjoyed its hospitality. It is still well preserved."
