Mississippi Commercial Mobile Radio Service Board, Series 29... Series 2984
The Mississippi Commercial Mobile Radio Service Board (CMRS) collects an emergency telephone service charge from each mobile phone customer whose place of primary use is within the state. These charges are redistributed to carriers to pay the actual costs incurred from complying with the wireless 911 emergency (E-911) service requirements established by the Federal Communications Commission. Members of the eight-person board are appointed by the governor, with the advice and consent of the Mississippi Senate, to four-year terms. The Department of Archives and History has electronic (PDF) agendas, minutes, and related documents of the board from 1993. Paper copies of the 1993-2022 agendas, minutes, and related documents were scanned and saved as PDFs and word documents by the Commercial Mobile Radio Service Board. More recent documents were "born digital" and saved as PDFs.
