Agriculture and Industry Buildings Dismantlement Series 1634

This subset of Series 1634 contains seventy-two digital photographs of the dismantlement of the Agriculture and Industry Buildings at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds taken on May 10, 2011, by MDAH Public Information staff member Stephenie Morrisey. The buildings were used primarily for flea markets and trade shows and infamously served as the "Fairgrounds Motel," a temporary prison for Civil Rights demonstrators arrested in 1963 and 1965.

Image Arrangement and Numbering

The digital photographs of the dismantlement of the Agriculture and Industry Buildings at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds were saved in the order in which they were taken.

Technical Details

Digital Photographs: Stephenie Morrisey used a Cannon EOS 10D digital camera to capture photographs of the dismantlement on May 11, 2010, creating 24-bit, 3072x2048 pixel JPEG images.

Conversion: For Web display, the original images of the Agriculture and Industry Buildings dismantlement photograph collection were converted to JPEG tile sets.

Rights Management

There are no known restrictions on use of images within the Agriculture and Industry Buildings dismantlement photograph collection. MDAH asks that each image used in a presentation, display, or publication be accompanied by the following credit statement:
